    Description

LIEUT. GEN’L ULYSESS S. GRANT STEREOVIEW, ANTHONY PROMINENT PORTRAIT , BRADY IM.. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS First Class.
Up for auction is rare and scarce stereoview that states on the backmark Prominent Portaits No 2965 , Lieut. Gen’ L Ulysses S. Grant , Com. in Chief Armies of U.S. Published By E. & H. T. Anthony & Co., American and Foreign Stereoscopic Emporium, 501 Broadway , New -York .
The obverse of the stereoview is an image of a seated Lieut . Gen’L Ulysses S. Grant that was taken by Mathew Brady circa 1864 sometime after President Lincoln promoted Grant to command all the armies of the United States on March 2, 1864.
The stereoview is in good condition considering it’s age. The image of Grant is sharp and contrast very good . There are some defects of smudges in the line separated they two images which was caused in the processing of the albumen photos. There is wear to the corners of the stereoview.
On the reverse of the stereoview there a paste mark on the lower corner from the removal of a revenue stamp. There is some soiling of the back ot the card. There is an inscription in ink on the lower right side “ Feb 14, 39 - Los Angeles Calif.”
This rare and scarce Anthony Prominent Portrait of U.S. Grant ‘s image by Brady is not seen when I extensively searched the internet among the hundreds of his image shown.
This Anthony stereoview of U.S. Grant would make a great addition to the Civl War collector.
Seller’s notes: Please carefully examine the photos to determine the condition of the stereoview.
    Thanks for looking !
